"Any man is liable to err, only a fool persists in error" (Marcus Tullius Cicero). History does not record whether Cicero was referring to philosophy or repeated attempts to invent the bicycle but never mind. As there are no illustrations of Cicero covered in bruises and band aids we shall have to assume he was referring to the former rather than the latter.
It has been obvious for some time that the UK has to find some way to amend the ludicrous decision to leave the European Union. My own view is that it would be condemned to negotiate a thousand times in different sectors to undo that particular folly, probably the most disastrous event in British politics since the Suez crisis.
The attempt to undo that folly was always likely to come wrapped in a new vernacular and here it is. 'Dynamic alignment'.
'The UK and the EU are currently negotiating various deals, including one concerning food safety and standards for animal and plant health.
The parliamentary legislation to accompany some of them is expected later this year, and will include new powers allowing so-called "dynamic alignment" with Europe in areas where deals have already been signed.
This means that whenever Brussels approves a new rule MPs would only have limited opportunities to scrutinise them.
They would be put through using secondary legislation - which normally can't be amended, and is usually rubber stamped without a vote.'

Of course Farage and the rest of the little Englanders are furious at an attempt as they see it to 'undo' the damage of Brexit. No word as yet from Rees Mogg down in the West Country.
There will now follow a huffing and puffing about this 'dynamic alignment'. In truth the need to move back into conformity with EU single market rules was always bound to come as there is no other game in town.
"This will allow us to deliver a 'food & drink' trade deal worth £5.1bn a year, backing British jobs and slashing costly red tape for our farmers, producers and businesses."
While Labour has previously ruled out rejoining the EU single market or customs union, the new legislation could see the UK adopt some European regulations under British deals struck with the bloc."
Ho hum... That which was unthinkable becomes eminently predictable as soon as it is agreed it was somewhat foreseeable.
