Joe Biden is getting worse now than Reagan was towards the end of his time in office. At least Ronnie was an actor, they used to put an X on the floor for him to stand on and he would learn his speech off like a script or use a teleprompter.
Biden seems to be almost certainly suffering from dementia and it is getting worse lately, maybe the stress is aggrevating it: he rambles off on a tangent, struggles to find words, mixes up names and says things that make no sense. The media seem to be covering for him and downplaying it as much as possible but it is going to get much more difficult to try and keep a lid on it as time goes on.

If I was more cynical I would say that this is why the dems pushed so hard for such an old candidate, and why they insisted that he make Harris his running partner. Who knows, maybe the party leaders even knew that he had dementia which would get progressively worse.
Biden has done the dirty work pulling the troops out of Afghanistan and is taking all the flak for it leaving Kamala clean as a whistle. He steps down citing medical reasons and she then has a clear run of 3+ years in the oval office without ever having to worry about a campaign, funds, electoral college/public votes and so on.

Hilarious to hear the military fanboys and their media sycophants using the Afghan Ranger 'intervention' as a case for Ireland squandering money on the purchase of heavy-lift transport planes such as the Boeing Jets in use with the US airforce and RAF. Hundreds of millions would have to be spent on buying/leasing and maintaining aircraft that would spend decades mothballed waiting for an opportunity to use them. Ireland is a tiny, neutral country on the outer fringes of Europe with no military designs on any part of the world and the fanboys and their media friends need to cop-on.



Add the 'urgent' need for the heavy-lift aircraft to the 'urgent' need for fighter squadrons to protect our skies from the Russian....the sky is the limit.

People say they were there to get people onto planes, into the airport.
Do they have established contacts on the ground in Kabul, contacts they have built up over years like the Yanks or the British?
Or did they reckon they would grab a cab into city and find Irish bar and ask the locals there for help?

All it did was put more Irish nationals in harms way.
They had to fooking cadge a lift in and out.

And yes we could do with a few heavy lift cargo planes like C130 say.
And no it is not just for these occasions, but for things like not having to cadge lifts to the next UN deployment, like bringing in ordanance that the army uses, etc.
But no we have two old Casa 235 that are going to be replaced by two new Casa 295.
And we have to get EU funding to help keep them in the air.

And yes we are a neutral country, but the Swiss and Swedes are neutral and yet still have some proper defence forces.
And no I am not saying we get main battle tanks or modern fighter squadrons.
Yes I know the Swedes manufacture some of the kit themselves.

But FFS we are a joke with our air corp haven't to fly around in glorified Cessna 172s until 2 years ago.
We get Pc-12s supposedly for training and because some numpty in the army wanted something that could deliver troops into fields.
Why not get more helis for that as you can't land a plane in most of the country and you would fit as many in a medium lift heli as in a PC-12.

Maybe give some incentives for soldiers to change career and join the gardai? A lot of police in america would have served in the military first and the salary in the gardai must be better than in the defence forces.
