I'm gutted for her. By this moves she no longer has to appear before the Dail committee and she was due to retire anyway. What a loss to Irish broadcasting and she's leaving RTE with a big fat pension that most could only dream of......

She has pulled the pin so as she does not have to attend the meeting, and spill the beans. She is in receipt of an rte pension that we have all been forced to pay for with the compulsory license fee. She should have been compelled to attend, but its like many privelaged positions.....no accountability

Very sneaky altogether. She was an outside recruit (from Discovery if I recall), so much for that!

Leo Varadkar speaking on the controversy in RTE,

The Taoiseach has said trust can be restored in RTÉ as an organisation but only if there is "full transparency and full accountability."

Leo Varadkar said it is crucial that people know all the facts in relation to hidden payments and "who made what decisions, when and why"
.

The irony of this may be lost on some, but this is coming from a man whose only experience of transparency is the window of his Ministerial Merc and of accountability is of the bottom line on his pay cheque.

Hollow words from probably the biggest liar and scammer yet to emerge from the biggest spawning ground of liars and scammers on this island.

I'd say there are more than a few senior RTE execs sh1tting themselves at the thought of Dee Forbes appearing before the Dáil committee. Her statement yesterday certainly implied she didn't act alone...

That much is obvious and it remains to be seen what evidence will emerge of kickbacks to the top brass of RTE from the likes of NK. I fail to see how the likes of Tubridy, Duffy and a few more achieved their positions on merit, some of them couldn't spell talent.

Aw, bless. So sad and yet so convenient. It can't be any condition of the backbone, because obviously she doesn't have one.
On a separate point, isn't it amazing how capable RTE investigative journalists have shown themselves to be in relation to this, it's almost as if they had a bone to pick.

Poor Dee, plucked the mental health card from the deck and nobody will buy her bluff. These morally bankrupt charlatans regard the taxpayer with utter contempt, pushing for a hike in the TV licence fee whilst simultaneously going out of their way to obfuscate their backhanders. "Truth matters" when the game is rigged, RTÉ should be defunded out of existence.

Statement coming out from RTE to the effect that nobody knew anything about anything except Dee Forbes and therefore all those attending the PAC meeting tomorrow will have nothing to add to the proceedings, so in effect it's just coffee and biscuits on the taxpayer.
Also, Ryan Tubridy had no knowledge of the credit note arrangement between RTE and NK. What does this mean, does it mean that Ryan Tubridy is so flush with cash that he doesn't notice an extra 75 grand or does it mean that NK was ripping him off, and he and his company, which presumably included at least one accountant, didn't notice? Be prepared for the whitewash of the century, with Dee Forbes riding off into the sunset, taking the secrets to the grave, and leaving all her minions to carry on business as usual.

I can't see how it's credible to claim, the CFO who started in 2020,the director of HR who started in 2017 (when payments issue started) can claim to have no knowledge of this situation?

What exactly is their role responsible for?

It would seem tubridy was unaware of the fact Renault deal was underpinned by a credit note/free advertising....which would/could seem credible IMO....a statement from someone in Renault who pulled plug (and why) on this deal could bring the entire thing in on the rte executive ears

Dee wont be going because there is probably a bigger shitstorm waiting to hit the headlines in RTE, and she does not need to be there. Thats what normally happens, its always worse than what they tell you.

I note that my TV licence is due for renewal shortly. In all that is sacred and holy on our Blessed Isle, should I stump up €160 or wait and see how things develop? Please help me with this dilemma!

Just reassure them the money is in a barter account and they can collect when they pay your agent's fee of €120, and account costs of €40.

Exactly. It's not enough to say that Dee Forbes had ultimate responsibility for the arrangement but surely the CFO must have access to any and all financial transactions carried out by RTE. It is my understanding that when a company has financial questions to answer, the person charged with answering those questions is the CFO, not the CEO, even though the CEO may have ultimate responsibility for the company.

Yeah, and she's laughing at you and me and all the other people who put their hands out for a pay cheque every month and have to be content with whatever somebody else decides should be in it.

I assume I am not the only one who is fairly certain that secret payments weren't only made to one person? Various golden circle members out confirming their earnings are as published but I'm not buying that. Lots of this story is strange but that they only undertook this creative payments process for one person would be stranger....
