Hate Speech Law
Re: Hate Speech Law
Absolutely of course. And maybe he has a very good point because maybe he suffered due to terrible teachings in the Koran. Just like Sinead was wanting to tear up a photo of Pope due to her suffering and I support her right to expression. I just wonder if it is all a bit nasty and provocative.

Re: Hate Speech Law
I saw this post recently by someone who has regularly said that misgendering is violence.
I havent seen anyone argue that misgendering is violence or incitement to violence.
The double speak in this post really is something, here is something they have written before in a feedback thread.I'd agree with everything PCB said. Yes there probably are a minority of people who think misgendering is violence or inciting violence. It is very weird that posters are overtly aware of that as PCB pointed out. I don't think the notion that misgendering could be prosecuted as incitement to hatred can be taken seriously.”
Posters like this, proponents of this bill, will hide behind the “of course free debate will not be stifled” while at the same time rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of the new powers that they will wield. If you don’t think they will wield these powers then you haven’t been paying enough attention. You are also endangering the persons safety. By misgendering someone you can endanger their inherent personal sense of safety but also their physical safety by potentially outing them to others.”

Michigan has just passed a law - surely unconstitutional?? - where it will be felony punishable by up to 5 years in jail for not using preferred pronouns.
That shit has gone too far!!!

The US is a really fcuked up society. God help us if Trump should win the next election, even if he doesn't because I don't believe for one minute that he'll accept the result then either. Problem is that the rest of the democratic world looks to them for leadership when really it should be the other way around. I've watched videos of US politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene, and the absolutely appalling shite she comes out with and then you look over to the House of Commons and you see Nadine Dorries coming out with similar shit. This, in the Mother of Parliaments, where democracy was born, Magna Carta and all that. You sort of expect it from the inbred Yankee hillbillies, but not from Mother Britain.PlaneSpeeking wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 4:35 pm Michigan has just passed a law - surely unconstitutional?? - where it will be felony punishable by up to 5 years in jail for not using preferred pronouns.

He's a prick for doing that of course but we must examine that incident and what led to it.
Would it have not been better to burn copies of Charlie Hebdo rather than kill a dozen people for disagreeing with you ?
I'm Catholic and if you burned a Bible in front of me I'd think you were a prick but I wouldn't leavr you needing a massive police escort!

Re: Hate Speech Law
Just remember to put that issue on your politicians doorstep questionaire, and you will be able to vote on the doorstep with your ballot decision. It wont be long now.
Or failing that they will have to build more jails to deal with the voters who dont agree with this misinformation BS.
It was governments misinformation in the west that gets us into all the wars.......ever, and now they want to introduce the same ideology into my day to day living.
Only if we let them, remember

Can see a certain establishment hack on wanting stop anyone putting posts up to commerate the Drumnakilly ambush anniversary from being commerated and want to ban any balance posts off social media to try and silence any political POV not held by establishment

3 man active terrorist unit about to gun down a delivery driver get riddled with bullets by a team of soldiers.Setanta wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 4:58 pm Can see a certain establishment hack on wanting stop anyone putting posts up to commerate the Drumnakilly ambush anniversary from being commerated and want to ban any balance posts off social media to try and silence any political POV not held by establishment
I’m anything but establishment and I can see little to commiserate, to be honest.
Bad people got what they deserved.
How is any of this related to hate speech anyway?
If you want to discuss further maybe you’ll start a separate thread.
Re: Hate Speech Law
Lot of terrorist activity at the time sadly, from both sides. I'd say torture of innocent people that has been admitted to by the uk government in the recent past ranks up there as well. Thank fully its no more.
Re: Hate Speech Law
Them fellows were killed in a retaliation to a attack on a bus of British soldiers 10 days earlier.....for the anniversary of that attack last week RTE had a little puff piece interviewing survivors and police about itJayZeus wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 10:38 pm 3 man active terrorist unit about to gun down a delivery driver get riddled with bullets by a team of soldiers.

But not a word on this ambush or even attempts to interview family members of those killed here this week...just state and establishment sponsored propaganda to push a narrative that isn't impartial and silence the entirety of the truth.....
Take for example this 'delivery driver',you don't perhaps what to take a guess at what he used to on a part-time basis (some might say he was doing it that day as part of an ambush?),that brought him into crosshairs of them fellows??
The state media here can remember British soldiers cut down in the troubles, but deafening silence on nationlists killed, little wonder it taken 50 years for a taoiseach to attend a bloody Sunday march, but Irish politicians can swan in/out of Ukraine for selfies with zelensky on a near weekly basis and any critism of it is silenced by the left

“The left”.
Come here to me.. Did you ever think about joining a lodge so you can go marching?
Well, you do like to bang the drum and march to a tune you didn’t write after all.
Nobody should be commemorating those who killed or were killed as terrorist ‘combatants’ on either side in the past 60-70 years in Northern Ireland.
Civilians should be mourned and remembered. Thugs with AK’s and semtex should be forgotten.

You may say this to completly biased establishment media here, and their puff pieces about attacks on soldiers.....while silence on nationlists killed in troubles, despite these two particular incidents being instrinently linkedJayZeus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 8:21 am “The left”.

Seems obvious to me,the PC brigade want it silenced so people don't point out the continued adbandonment of our own in the north.....they'll move heaven and earth to help Ukrainians, while demonishing our own wanting freedom and label anyone who dare and stand upto the PC agenda, working to erode our national identity in the north as thugs.

Re: Hate Speech Law
Wellllll there's some truth in saying that the distinction between terrorists and freedom fighters has always been designated by political expediency.
(I'm against commemorating/celebrating IRA, UDC, any other faction fighters , or the state forces in that conflict - but I can see that a point can be made about the public rehabilitation of some elements over others)

“The left”. “PC brigade”. It’s lazy language and at this stage belies a limited ability to argue a point based on anything other than belligerent tropes.
I still don’t see how the Hate Speech Law relates to the pursuit of a nationalist agenda.
Is it a case that those who hold long outdated views regarding some idealistic nationalist aspirations see every move that doesn’t explicitly endorse that agenda to be a thing to be attacked as anti-Northern Irish nationalist in nature?
Can you explain it without lazy word-bites?
Or am I essentially just engaging with a mouth frothing Chucky La-La at this stage?
Re: Hate Speech Law
I suppose one could say that the government are supporting Ukraine whos people are fighting to protect their sovereignty against an occupying force. All in support of the freedom fighters. Poses the question that the government will tell you who the terrorists are , and who the enemy is, and the new hate speech, laws will make sure of that, lest you be tempted to stray from the government narrative
Re: Hate Speech Law
If you stop and take four minutes to listen to these well-appointed intelligentsia speaking on misinformation, you would have to wonder where we are headed.

Re: Hate Speech Law
So, they failed miserably to be able to give an example to what is misinformation. Looks like you will either shutup and be informed of what is, and what is not. Or go to jail for believing otherwise. Problem is jail wont be an option to pay your fine. But attaching the fine to your estate by way of a claim on your assets when you pop your clogs. Essentially means you will be forced to comply, no matter what. Its starting to sound like russia.
Re: Hate Speech Law
This hate speech law is going to be used to further the establishment propaganda and silence nationlists....we can have puff pieces interviewing soldiers, all the while the left works to silence nationlists....JayZeus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 9:15 am I guess you mean ‘intrinsically’.

it's happening all ready, while the PC brigade demands no combatants be commerated from the troubles....these people wish to bury and water down our national identity and continue to force this falsified, sanitised version of history onto the public and resort to silly insults and abuse and refer to people who don't tow the line with the PC agenda as "mouth frothing"
To my eyes it's obvious why their was no rte coverage of commeration of this ambush,in same vein as to why Liam commeration gets ignored/dismissed,while they provide reports from the Micheal Collins commeration (even going as far to show the Micheal Collins film on rte that weekend).....and we certinaly won't allow any Liam lynch film ever to be shown on the establishment media....would fail the PC agenda of sanitising and watering down our history

I'm a republican, I have a bodhran in my house made by a political prisoner and agree in marking some of the IRA combatants who died.JayZeus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 8:21 am “The left”.

These people do not deserve to be commemorated. It was a despicable act.
But then I'm the far left cancel culture PC brigade so what do I know ???!!

@setanta
Are we all the PC brigade because we don't agree with your plainly sinn fein rhetoric.
Yeah yeah we know you are not sinn fein, but we all all PC lefties, PC brigade, etc etc
So far I think I have seen you accuse almost every poster of either being parrot for the establishment (the one you labelled me), lefties (I remember it being labelled at one lady who would I dare say be so far removed from what is seen as the modern left as you can get these days), or a member of the PC brigade.
You are a parady at this stage.
BTW I think the standard of teaching of history in schools these days is appalling and people are leaving schools with no idea of history of any bloody kind.
We are creating generations of idiots like the US.
