Personally, I couldn’t care less about either country and its inhabitants. The whole region has a mess and I never recall a period where there hasn’t been conflict.knownunknown wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 3:21 pm Some still harp on about “ Tiocfaidh ár lá” and say our war will never end until full control. Most sensible people have moved on, solely to avoid bloodshed.
When Ireland started its war of independence it seized government buildings and government offices trying to control the government. That’s an act of war, not the spineless IRA terrorists who would plant bombs and then retreat into the shadows. They were gutless cowards perpetuating hate and conflict.
Hamas has had full control of their government since they were elected in 2005, it was supposed to be a parliamentary system where they shared some power with the minority parties, but they decided no more elections and threw their rivals off the rooftops. The removal of the Israeli settlers from Gaza, by force and at gunpoint by the Israeli government, did nothing to appease Hamas, the controlling power in Gaza.
Since then they’ve had a defacto-state and total control over their daily lives. They live off of international donations and without them their population couldn’t possible have boomed in the last few decades like it has, as one of the fastest growing populations in the world. When they decided to invade Israel and slaughter thousands and taken hundreds hostage on Oct. 7th, from the comfort of their Qatari hotels mind you, they started a war. One nation invaded another and targeted civilians by raping and murdering them.
The ira bombing the uk is not an act of war until the IRA are the political party that represents us, which is why they have always been opposed by the great people of Ireland.
Neither side wants peace so there won’t be any. They can continue killing each other as much as they want because it won’t make a single difference to me.
