On the ammo it was confirmed as saying,

“Hey facist, catch”

“Oh Bella ciao, Bella ciao, Bella ciao”

“If you can read this you are gay lmfao”.
Couldn’t get more cringeworthy, although I admit that the Bella ciao one is funny.

Just wait and see when a left leaning politican or public figure is killed in the US (say Newsom for instance) by one of these gun nutjobs how differently it is handled. The first insulting post towards him or his family and that poster will be history.

The ironic thing is these people making fun of a young man killed like that in front of his children are 10 times worse than Kirk ever was.
It wouldn’t even require a famous or political person to get killed. Any comment like this about a “regular” person would get you an automatic thread and probably forum ban. I have definitely been sanctioned for “own fault” comments like this. Clearly I hadn’t commented on the right sort of target.

Somewhat telling that individual proclaiming "no tears here for Kirk" has disappeared into the ether. A hit & run coward without a functioning spine.

Another posts a photo from an account of a cartoonist who says this is all trump’s fault. These people don’t have independent thought and have to wait to be told what to think by their influencers.

Then we can also post links I guess.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/0 ... rk-murder/

The ripple effect of this murder will be significant, especially because we have now entered the phase where many (political or ideological) opponents no longer show any interest in reflection or even diplomacy and instead double down. True for both sides of the fence but more ironic if one side relies on the “be kind” rhetoric.

Yet Oxford are clamping down on so called “misgendering” and will expel anyone who refuses to use “correct” ahem pronouns.

So, reality = expulsion and glorifying murder = promotion.

It’s been a few days since I unfriended someone following the murder - they had friends online doing the lefty “good riddance” thing.

Them themselves did the pussyfooting version “Oh it’s sad for his children but just read some of his posts and you’ll see why it happened”.

I feel happier knowing I don’t have to be around that garbage any longer and tbh I’ve seen all the fcking “Protect The dolls” shirts I ever want to see.

I took a brief dip into the Kirk and Trump threads on the other site and to be honest it deeply saddened me. To be that bound by idealogy and politics that you lose sight of your own humanity and decency is truly scary.

It seems to be a tactic to dehumanise your opponent to the point that things like murder become acceptable. Also the amount of misquoting and taking Kirk out of context to justify their feelings is incredibly ironic considering the usual screeching about 'misformation' over there.

Didn't always agree with Kirk, but I respected his bravery and passion to stand up for his beliefs. He achieved a lot in a short life.

Did you see Stephen King’s vile tweet which he took down and issued a groveling apology - once he was threatened with libel ??

The Stephen King thing prompts me to mention something I’ve noticed more and more over the past 18 months or two years, and that is oul lads going Full Woke. A few years ago, the whole woke/progressive online ranting was very much a young persons game, but lately more and more lads my age and older seem to be getting into it in a big way. I find it quite puzzling - nearly every guy I know of my age and above finds the whole woke thing laughable, yet you have all these lads in their 60’s and 70’s going on about trans rights and refugees welcome. After a discussion with a few friends over a few drinks, we got our heads together and counted all the lads we know in real life who are like that (it was a short list) and realised that they all had one thing in common - they were not the kind of lads you’d want around your daughters. Now I don’t know if that works across all the famous oul lads that are gone woke (a few that spring to mind in addition to Stephen King are Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, and, closer to home, Pat Kenny). We concluded that it may well be that at least some of the oul lads jumping on the woke bandwagon may be doing it to try and impress ladies much younger ger than themselves.

Natty, I wonder could that also be due to the older generations reliance on traditional media, such as RTE and broadsheet newspapers.

My own father is in his 70s and seems to buy into to a lot of the 'far right' boogeyman narrative which the aforementioned media push in this country.

Good point, that could have a lot to do with it.

My father has gone the same way, conspiracy mad, Instagram reels of theories such as the Jews killed Micheal Jackson and they are to blame for everything. I've had to block him on wats app.
We have to realise that everyone is looking at their phones taking in information and disinformation for 2-10 hours a day, this is going to have an effect of some description.
If someone is doing cocaine for 8 hours a day they need urgent help but if someone is looking at their phone for 8 hours a day it is perfectly normal behaviour?
This mixed into the fact that people aren't getting out to socialise anymore in pubs, churches, bingo, card games etc.
People are lonely and looking to be part of something, some form of community. Throw in 24/7 news cycles and boom its a recipe for mental health disasters.

The Internet brings convenience sure, but maybe a serious discussion needs to be had with what else comes along with the convenience.
There is Ying to every Yang.

Fair play, at least he apologized. He said something along the lines of “Kirk advocated for stoning gay people to death” a common trope being spread around viciously right now, among many more, without checking his facts when it reality Kirk was making a point about cherry picking passages from the bible.

These are the same people looking to push hate speech legislation and keep repeating that Kirk said hateful things all the time. He was trapped in his own bubble but at least he was able to realize it, eventually.

To respond to Natty0 and Dave about the points raised, this interesting video in their own words, “this is exactly the playbook on how you get decent, kind people laughing at a murder on the internet, how you radicalize a country without taking a shot”.

Step

1. Isolation -cut the other tribe out of your life
2. Echo chambers- surround yourself with people who think like you where rage gets recycled
3. Tribal script- us vs them narrative. We are righteous, they are evil. Outrage and moral superiority makes them feel morally justified in celebrating violence.

Reports now that the assassin, Robinson, was living with a transgender partner who was actually the person who turned him in.
