Re: Stamp Collecting
I'm still buying the odd First Day Cover that catches my eye and bought this one today for £3.60 from the Czech Republic. Despite my dislike for the 'European Project' I do like many of the stamps connected to it.

Re: Stamp Collecting
My latest acquisition - £2.50 on eBid - and which arrived from the UK this morning. Sent from the town where I grew up and I like the artwork - the stamps a bit meh.

Re: Stamp Collecting
Hi Celtic Rambler - your purchases are very nice examples.
I suggest Dublin Stamp Society as another way to study and collect stamps/ postal history, and to purchase from other members at reasonable rates. https://www.dublinstampsociety.com/blog

Re: Stamp Collecting
Is Stamp collecting still popular hobby? I have just gone thru a hoard of letters from 60's and 70's and have saved the stamps. Is there a worthy charity that will take them?

Gosh it is quiet in here these days!
Irish Peatland Conservation Council
IPCC turn used stamps into money to help our work of saving Irish bogs. Valuable stamps that are spotted are sold separately, but even perfectly ordinary stamps are welcome. They get made up into packs for sale in IPCC’s Nature Shop or are sold in bulk in Ireland to stamp dealers. Our collectors campaign is worth €10,000 each year to IPCC.
If you can help us, please put your stamps into an envelope and send them to: IPCC, Lullymore, Rathangan, Co. Kildare. There’s no need to lift them off the paper, but if you have time to trim them leaving a 1cm margin all around, we’d be delighted.
