Currently in the process of moving house myself so am going to have to start packing up my two arcade machines to move down 5 flights of stairs again - the joy!

What a game! envious that you're playing through it for the first time. Wish I could somehow do a mind wipe and start it fresh again.Jimmy Bottlehead wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 5:16 pm I recently (finally!) hacked my SNES Classic after having it for probably 18 months and going unused. Enjoying Chrono Trigger after decades of hearing the name and having no clue what it was.
Hey there!o1s1n wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 3:25 pm Just wanted to put the feelers out to see how many guys from the A&R boards forum have made it over here (I see you there, Andrew76!)

Hah! Yeah I think I've more than done my time lugging them up and down staircases! luckily once I get them down out of this place it'll all be good - new house is just in the front door right from the street and away we go.
What happened the Aero? Sold, or full on "o1s1n lost"? (IE, it imploded while falling down a lift shaft at twice the speed of sound?)o1s1n wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 9:28 pm Hah! Still have the Jaleco Pony and the SNK Candy. Lost the Aero about 5 years ago in my last move!![]()
It was actually sucked through a singularity when it reached the bottom of the lift shaft and is now floating in an alternative universe being played by Metal Slug loving aliens.Randle McMurphy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 7:28 am What happened the Aero? Which is the one I did the cap kit on? You were having some issue with the display I could never actually see.....you'd be like "there! did you see it??" and I'd be likeo1s1n wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 9:58 am It was actually sucked through a singularity when it reached the bottom of the lift shaft and is now floating in an alternative universe being played by Metal Slug loving aliens.
Unfortunately I had to sell it on adverts when I moved out of the last place, was just a little too chunky! Almost the footprint of a 29 inch cabinet but with a 25 inch screen. Plus it was actually quite a bit heavier than a 29 in cabinet, beast of a yoke! Always looked so dainty in photographs.
That was the SNK Candy, thanks again for doing that! Must be what, at least ten years ago now? Still going strong, I'd say that cap kit will last until I'm an oul ladRandle McMurphy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 3:41 pm Which is the one I did the cap kit on? Jesus is it that long ago now? Christ....o1s1n wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 8:40 pm That was the SNK Candy, thanks again for doing that! Must be what, at least ten years ago now? Still going strong, I'd say that cap kit will last until I'm an oul lad![]()
Yeah the issue is a weird one, I think it's actually being caused by the flyback and the contrast being too high. Any time there was a bright part on the screen it was over stretching the flyback and those parts were just coming out as a black flicking shadow.
I hadn't a bean how to properly calibrate a CRT back then. It looks absolutely gorgeous now in comparison!
Never heard of that thing so had a look about on their site. Did you order one?? Was there any dodgy history to it's development?Randle McMurphy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 8:35 am Jesus is it that long ago now? Christ....
I see this contraption has been given a launch date - https://polymega.com/blogs/system-softw ... -12th-2021
Lord no, wouldn't touch the thing. No dodgy history that I'm aware of, it just always seemed like pointless vapourware.
Indeed, for me the entire point of emulation is the convenience of a one stop solution. No changing cables, no power supplies, no scarts, no carts, no discs....just launch whatever game from whatever system from a nice frontend and boom, you're playing. When you start having to buy add on parts for different systems, well, you may as well just have the real systems then. The frontend looks nice, but nothing that can't be achieved and improved upon on PC.Tbh I've never seen the attraction of those kinds of devices where you are using original discs/carts etc. If you already own the games then surely you'd have the console to go with it - or you could buy one far far cheaper than that yoke. $450 for the base unit that let's you play CD based games, and pay $79 extra per other console you want to play games for? Jog on. Emulation would be cheaper again and give better results probably.
I'd rather tinker with emulation on the Pi or whatever myself, save myself a few bob and have fun with the process, but each to their own.
I preordered but cancelled it after thinking about it and bought a Raspi 400 and stuck Pimiga on it yesterday when it arrived so will have to go through all the goodies on it now
